CONGRESS CENTER

The idea behind the project is the need for more open and more flexible spaces as an enveloped platform for such reformulation. The both structures are designed through the articulation of site land with a slight transpassage of built and unbuilt in overall unity. The buildings and their programs including their outdoor areas, are largely open to the public, inviting the other Teknopark complex users to enjoy the spaces and its facilities.

The project for Business School in Istanbul Technical University Macka Campus is aiming to be a modern innovative educational complex answering the contemporary necessities as well as becoming a social center for the neighbourhood. In the design, the leading idea was to give an answer to the lack of open area and social spaces in the existing campus. Flexible and adaptable spaces are created for the future foresight, such as online classrooms, public educations or rentable offices.

Project area has the potential for transforming all the city of Mersin, not only its close surrounding since the area selected contains most of the important nodes and historical areas for the collective memory of the city. The design aims to take into account the social structure of the neightbourhood in addition to its recreative functions. To achieve this, diffent zonings created which enables to perform different types of social activities in order to strengthen the urban consciousness and social bonds.

National competition for “7 regions - 7 climates” was a quest for seeking local architecture practices in various parts of the country and selected area was Hatay region located in the northern Mediterranean. While the given competition site had the potential to be a central region in the process of urbanization, it has been transformed into a region that creates urban discontinuity due to being used as private land of the military. The main fiction of the project is based on correlating this discontinuity by associating various layers of urban usage.
